this is really very ridiculous.if medicines will cause harm to our health then who will cure the disease?.Such medicines should be srictly banned by government

How will the common person with no medical knowledge will know which medicine is banned and which is not? When we go to doctor we totally believe on his treatment, if he is the one who plays with our life, to whom we should go??

Ban these harmful medicines. Take action against those who propagate these.

Dr Arundhati Mhalgi: I think the main reason for India being dumping ground of banned drugs is because we do not strict regulations, laws and legal control over the pharmaceutical industry and its functioning. People have access to restricted drugs without having the need to go to a doctor for prescriptions and pharmacists readily sell drugs as per their knowledge. There is no legal control over clinical trials and ethics committees have a very liberal approach towards the drugs being used in patients. An independant regulatory commission should be incharge of the functioning of the drug industry and the government should not interfere with its working. Over all doctors should be even more diligent in taking care of their patients.
If doctors do not abide by the regulations and do not care about the governing of FDA or any other international regulations, then I think they hardly care about Indian laws. Patients are naive and do not understand the full potential of harm any banned and expired drug can make on their body, however if people working in healthcare do not emphasise the use of current viable drugs then its the common Indian who is at loss and a much greater risk for his life.

Our policies are not only allowing banned medicines but also allowing banned chemicals good example for this is the DDT which is banned in most of the western countries. These chemicals are hazardous to human beings and also polluting the environment. Government should ban all such medicines and chemicals and productions of those to.

I think Goverment or some social institute should publish the list of such banned medicines, so that consumer can avoid taking such medicines. Even if some doctors prescribe these medicines, one can point out that this is banned medicine and demand for a good prescription.
