Readers Write - Mumbai Traffic

"Everyday we read in regards to the transport facilities for daily commuters to Mumbai. But the forthcoming problem to arise within next five years; travelling towards Mumbai from suburbs like Kalyan onwards in Central, Bhayendar onwards in Western, Vashi onwards in Harbour has not yet thought thoroughly that, there will be literally no space for even an ant to enter in local trains during rush hours. So many mishaps like accidents, picpocketing,mobile/handbag theft or even abusing/fights amongst the commuters due to overpacked rush.

To avoid this, its high time, Central/State govts or private bodies like Tata, Mittal, Reliance etc. built new rail lines coming towards Mumbai from above mentioned stations, parallaly; 5 to 6 kms. East or West sides of existing railway line. This new railway line may have new railway stations as well as can be connected to the existing stations building floor platforms as what we have at Sandhurst Rd. station. This railway line should be built at least 60 feet above the ground/sea level {FLY BY RAIL] to avoid water saturation problem and the place under the railway line can be used for any crop in rural area and shopping complexes or vehicle parking lots in city areas.

As railway is the cheaper travel mode in comparison to the road transport should highly be given the attention and thought, as it is an alarming situation and this project will take more than 10 years to get completed/operated.

More to these rail lines can be interconnected to CR,WR and HR. These lines will mean only for local transportion and can connected to main existing lines beyond Kalyan, Borivali and Vashi for emergency purpose."
