द्रुतगती महामार्गावर पाच महिन्यांत 145 अपघात

मुंबई-पुणे द्रुतगती महामार्ग मृत्यूचा सापळा बनला आहे. यंदाच्या वर्षभरात जानेवारी ते मे या पाच महिन्यांत या महामार्गावर खोपोली ते कळंबोलीदरम्यान झालेल्या 145 विविध अपघातांत 80 जणांना आपले प्राण गमवावे लागेल आहेत; तर 250 अधिक प्रवासी जखमी झाले आहेत. अतिवेग, मद्यपान करून वाहन चालविणे ही या अपघातांमागची प्रमुख कारणे असल्याचे सूत्रांनी सांगितले.
महामार्गावर 80 किलोमीटर प्रति तास वेगाची मर्यादा असतानाही चालक 100 ते 150 च्या वेगाने वाहने हाकत आहेत. द्रुतगती महामार्गावर दिवसेंदिवस वाढणाऱ्या अपघातांच्या संख्येमुळे पोलिस यंत्रणाही हतबल झाली आहे. वाहनांच्या वेगावर नियंत्रण ठेवण्यासाठी स्पीडगनच्या साह्याने वाहनांवर कारवाई सुरू केली. तसेच मद्यपी वाहनचालकांवरही कारवाई केली. मात्र, एवढी उपाययोजना करूनही अपघात रोखण्यात यश आलेले नाही.
एप्रिल महिन्यात अवाढव्य ट्रेलर खोपोलीनजीक अडकून पडल्याने सुमारे 20 तास वाहतूक ठप्प झाली होती. मे महिन्यात 12 दिवसांत वेगवेगळ्या अपघातात खोपोली ते पनवेलदरम्यान 28 जणांचा बळी गेला. चार मे रोजी वऱ्हाडाच्या जीपला झालेल्या भीषण अपघातात 16 जण जागीच ठार झाले. द्रुतगती महामार्गावरील हा आजवरचा सर्वांत मोठा अपघात आहे. दररोज या महामार्गावर अपघातांची मालिका सुरूच असते. मात्र, छोट्या अपघातात जीवितहानी नसल्याने त्यांची नोंद पोलिस ठाण्यात होत नाही. अपघात टाळण्यासाठी महामार्गावर अवजड वाहनांना बंदी घालण्यात आली आहे.
अपघातांमध्ये सेलिब्रिटींचाही समावेश द्रुतगती महामार्गावर अपघातांच्या मालिकेत नाट्य अभिनेत्री भक्ती बर्वे यांचेही निधन झाले होते. "यदाकदाचित' नाटकाच्या प्रयोगासाठी कलाकारांना घेऊन जाणाऱ्या गाडीला झालेल्या अपघातात लाईनमन ठार झाला. तसेच बॉलीवूडमधील अभिनेता हृतिक रोशनच्या गाडीलाही अपघात झाला होता. मात्र, सुदैवाने त्याला कोणतीही दुखापत झाली नाही.

Please make sure to publish following and take this to necessary authorities for really reducing accidents on Pune-Mumbai highway. I have seen these every time I return to India.
1. Driver Training - All drivers who drive on highway must go through minimum 3 days training program at RTO office.
Drivers must taught - how to drive on highways. This is also done in most of developed countries. In Japan every one needs to attend 21-30 days driving school with difficult written and ZERO mistake driving test.
Driver training is MUST in India for following reasons
1) They park vehicle at any position on highway
2) They change lane without blinkers
3) Suddenly increase speed or reduce speed
- I think these 3 reasons make most of accidents
2. Drivers alcohol test - Police petrol should inspect drivers seriously (Without bribe) for alcohol consumption using international ballon test. If any driver found consumed alcohol - he/she should be banned for driving for 5 years.
3. Speed detection video cameras- Cameras should detect speed and take car, driver pictures as done in developed countries Japan, UK, USA. Punishment should be Rs. 10,000 for first overspeed and Rs. 50,000 for second overspeed within 2 years. Third overspeed cancel the license for 3 years.
Lets implemenmt above 3 systems - definitely accidents percentage will drastically reduce.

Some other things,
ALL the drivers bribe the RTO to get their Drivers Licence.
Even learned and educated have to follow the corrupt system as to if they raise their voice, they will not be issued a licence.
Justice, Police, Rules, Traffice Police are employees from reservation classes. They dont have morals, no vision, no ethics.
Government of Congress is taking India for a big ride from where we will never improve.
We need Krishna's Kalaki Awataar to trun things around.

IN INDIA THE PUNISHMENT FOR KILLING
HUMAN BEING IN ROAD ACCIDENT IS
ONLY A MAXIMUM OF 2 YEARS.
MANY DRIVERS ESCAPE EVEN THIS BY BRIBES TO POLICE.
RTO AND POLICE GO HAND IN HAND IN
CORRUPTION.
VALUE ATTACHED TO HUMAN LIFE IS PRACTICALLY NIL IN INDIA.
FOR CONTROLLING ACCIDENTS BESIDES
RASH AND DRUNKEN DRIVERS,POLICE
AND RTO HAVE TO BE CONTROLLED.
