Mohammad Afzal alias 'Guru', the mastermind behind attacks on Indian parliament was convicted guilty recently and was sentenced to death. He was supposed to be hanged on 20 October earlier. However, following to protests in Kashmir against his hanging and reported plea by Gulam Nabi Azad to postpone the execution, the punishment itself has come under cloud of doubts. An execution in month of Ramzan would anger the muslims besides danger of jeopardising the Indo-Pak peace process was the fear expressed by those who wanted the execution to be postponed. Meanwhile the families of Indian policemen killed in the attack have requested not to postpone or cancel the death sentence.
