Gandhiji and Nobel Award

Mahatma Gandhi, the global saint, the angel of truth and non-violence, Father of Nation for India never received the coveted Nobel Peace Prize. On the other hand the award of this prize to likes of Henry Kissinger and Yasser Arafat has been the fact.
Many argue that peace prize to Gandhiji would have been actually a felicitation of Nobel award itself.

Why Mahatma Gandhi never won the prize? Is it because he was a controversial candidate at the time of his nomination (he was nominated for 5 times)? Or is do a person like Mahatma Gandhi do need a Nobel in first place?

The Nobel prize is for international work. Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagrah was a thought, though great, it was not wide sread for unversal peace work.
It was spread only for india's war for freedom.
If the method had been got sucess for avoiding 2nd world war, then it was creditable for Nobel.

nobel is not going define the greatness of bapu......we know there is no need of any certificate which is issued by others......

Who says Gandhiji's work was limited to freedom of India. Bapu's work in South Africa is deemed revolutionary by many. His fight was against the colonial power at the time that almost half the world was a victim of. His principals of non-violence are appreciated throughout the world. Bapu's mantra -'Do not destroy the wicked, destroy their wickedness' has revolutionarised the way people think about fighting. Though it is sad that many of his principals are not followed in today’s world, he has proved to the world that freedom can be achieved using peaceful means. Ironically Nelson Mandela a follower of Gandhiji’s principals has received a Nobel peace prize for his great work.

I think Nobel peace prize is a great award but I believe Mahatma Gandhiji is much much greater than any peace award that mankind can ever invent.

There is no comparision between Gandhiji and Nobel award.Only mortals need an award, and Gandhiji is immortal.
